1960's Elizabeth Arden White & Pink Floral Robe
Established in 1910, Elizabeth Arden (1881-1966) became a household name in cosmetics after formulating her own line of powders and rouges in Paris in 1912.
Credited with making cosmetics "fine and ladylike", cosmetics were often seen as tawdry since they were, at the time, primarily used by prostitutes and theater performers.
Elizabeth Arden started a clothing line which included pieces like this robe from the late 1940's to the 1970's.
A layer of white silk chiffon is delicately embroidered with Fuchsia flowers reminiscent of Paris.
