1970's Burlesque Rhinestone I. Magnin Heels
These I. Magnin heels from the 1970's are covered in glimmering, hand-placed rhinestones.
The only thing that is known about these heels is that they were used as part of an on-stage costume for a burlesque performer.
Originally, these heels appeared to be a plain white canvas, which would have made it easier to adhere the rhinestones to the surface.
Mild repairs have been done to missing stone, but there are some dead stones still intact and show the age and history of this set.
I. Magnin was established by Mary Ann Magnin and her husband Isaac Magnin in 1876 selling luxury lotions and infant clothing.
The I. Magnin department stores were acquired by Bullock's Wilshire in 1944 and was eventually purchased by Macy's in the 1980's. I. Magnin was officially liquidated in 1994.
