PAULINE TRIGÈRE 1980's Black Structured Dress
If someone were to ask me who one of my favorite designers is I would have to say PAULINE TRIGÈRE!
I first learned of Pauline when I came across a photo of Elizabeth Taylor and her late husband, Mike Todd, and became OBSESSED with this fascinated black dress she was wearing!
The construction of her garments is not only impeccable, but AGELESS! When I see pieces of hers from the 50's and 60's I can easily see them as contemporary fashions!
When she passed in 2002, The New York Times Enid Nemy published an obituary/ article on her more than a century career:
''Fashion is what people tell you to wear,'' she often said. ''Style is what comes from your own inner thing.'' She herself was an exemplar of style and was described by her peers as ''a truly intellectual designer'' and ''a creator of timeless fashion'' in ready-to-wear clothes."
She famously dressed actress Meryl Streep when she won the Oscar for "Kramer vs. Kramer" at the 1980 Oscars.
Her clients ranged from a who's who of Hollywood and beyond including Grace Kelly, Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis, Josephine Baker. Bette Davis, and MORE!
To learn about her path and career I highly recommend her brand website that's still producing her heritage line today!
