ANTIQUE 1900's Victorian/ Edwardian Hand-Painted Floral Cockade Hand Fan
ANTIQUE 1900's Victorian/ Edwardian Hand-Painted Floral Cockade Hand Fan.
This came from a lot where the original owner had her own design shop in New York City in the early 1900's. It was hard to get the exact date of this piece, but from studying the style and what was originally with it I seems that this is from 1900-1910 (at the latest).
You can tell this was hand-painted because of the imperfections and slight paint bleeding on the fan. It's also coated linen (oil cloth).
The wooden handle of the fan is wrapped in some kind of stamped material that looks like snake/ reptilian skin, but I don't know the actual material.
It's in wonderful, antique condition with wear indicative of its age. There is a small tear in the fabric towards the bottom crease. The original owner's and their family preserved these with so much care!
Measurements:
Closed- approx. 9" from top to bottom
Fan- 10.5" x 13.5"
