1950's CEIL CHAPMAN Pink Swing Coat

This has long since been a crown jewel in my archive/ collection!

I bring to you the perfect mix of fashion history and ART.

Made of a slightly iridescent Pink, Tree Bark Silk Taffeta, this coat is every bit as glamourous as one can imagine!

Ceil Chapman worked with the likes of Elizabeth Taylor (my personal ICON) and Marilyn Monroe! It was said that she was one of Marilyn's favorite designers, although I've heard that about several designers.

She was one of a group of designers who succeeded in melding the Christian Dior "New Look" into more affordable options for customers.

Her pieces can now be found in museums around the world, most notably the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute.

Since I acquired this piece almost a decade ago, I have not seen another Pink version, but I have seen a Gold version and a Silvery Mint Green with matching dress.

Grace Kelly can be seen wearing the exact same coat, in what appears to be a silvery version, at the height of her career.
